Some USB drives are too small to label on the outside. It's a good idea, no matter what type of USB drive you have, to make sure your name is easy to find within the files on the drive itself.

The best way to do this is to give the drive itself your name.

  1. Plug your USB drive into a computer and wait for it to load.
  2. From "My Computer" (on a PC), choose the drive that corresponds to your USB, and then right click the mouse.
  3. A list will appear. Choose "rename."
  4. You can then rename the drive so that anytime it's loaded on a computer, your name will appear as the name of the drive.

If you lose your USB drive, check at the Library Circulation Desk and with Campus Security (Falcon Center). When a lost USB drive is turned in at the Library, staff will try to contact the owner if that information is available on the drive.
