New! In addition to three song downloads a week, you can now stream three hours of music from Freegal each day!

What's Freegal? Freegal is a free and legal (free+legal=Freegal! Get it?) music download service. With the barcode number on your Fairmont State or Pierpont ID, you can download three songs per week and keep them forever!

The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes. It works on both PCs and Macs.

Freegal houses the entire Sony music catalog and more.

Remember, a campus ID barcode number, located on the back of the card, is required to use this service.

Here's how Freegal works:

1. Go to Freegal's login page.

2. Type in the barcode number on your campus ID. It's on the back of the card.

3. Search for and download up to three (3) songs per week. The service updates your limit every Sunday evening.

4. You can also stream three (3) hours of music each day. Look at the left navigation for the streaming link and menu. Both streaming and download limits are counted separately on the upper right side of the page when you are logged in.

5. When downloading on a campus lab computer, DO NOT save mp3s to the computer! Just like any other file, you need to use a jump drive or save files to your U drive. Otherwise, they'll be gone once you log off.
